Communicating at Work: Better Speech & Hearing Month 2020

The theme for this year’s Better Speech & Hearing Month is Communication at Work. Because COVID-19 has many people working from home, video calls are becoming more and more common. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or ASHA, has a number of recommendations for making sure that your hearing loss does not disrupt your online meetings.

Don’t let hearing loss interrupt your professional life. Many computers and laptops now have Bluetooth connectivity, which means you can stream the call right into your hearing aids. If you need help setting this up, please let us know and we can walk you through it!

For those of you without hearing loss, you can help others within these meetings too! Use good lighting, keep your mouth unobstructed, and eliminate background noise when able. This lets you be a team player and keeps the meetings flowing smoothly.

We hope some of these tips are helpful, and as always, please let us know if we can help you during these unprecedented times so that your professional and personal life goes uninterrupted because of hearing loss.
