Hey there,

When we think of hearing aids, we often imagine the sleek, sophisticated pieces of equipment that pop out of glossy brochures. But actually, this technology has come a long way since people first looked for solutions to their auditory issues. For over seven hundred years, hollowed-out horns and rudimentary ear trumpets were the only things people could use to amplify sounds.

At the start of the twentieth century, the first electronic hearing aids were invented, heralding a breakthrough in modern treatments. Today, devices come with a range of advanced features such as Bluetooth connectivity and remote assistance. But now, a manufacturer has released a new device, the ReSound ONE, which it says will revolutionize the experiences of wearers once again.

Could this be a game-changer?

At the Hearing Center, we’re aware that such things shouldn’t be taken lightly. That’s why we’ve given a select number of our patients the ReSound ONE to provide independent, real-world feedback about its performance.

The good news is that so far, the device seems to be going down very well. It’s been so great to hear how the advanced features are making a difference in people’s lives, even in these early trials. Innovatively, the ReSound ONE uses the contours of a person’s ears to source sounds in their environment.

It does this using a microphone that sits just inside their ear canal, letting wearers more naturally tune in to tones and frequencies. And as you might expect, this is coupled with an advanced sound processing unit. If you’d like to find out more about this new hearing technology, give us a call at 850.474.8328, and we can set you up with a trial, so you can find out what it’s like for yourself!

Updates from the Office

The team would like to remind all our patients that our telehealth service, Tele Audiology, remains available!

This is a fantastic option for those who are looking to avoid physical contact with others.
You may have seen a blog on our website called “Why Our Teenage Years Are Crucial for Our Hearing.”

As explained, hearing loss instances have jumped over the last twenty years in young people, which is especially concerning for audiologists.

If you know someone under thirty who has discussed a ringing sensation in their ear or said they feel sensitivity to loud sounds, they must receive a hearing assessment as soon as possible!
Call us at 850.474.8328, and we can arrange a time fitting their needs!

How one deaf filmmaker followed his dreams

For some people, hearing loss can feel like a huge impediment to their future ambitions.

But one deaf filmmaker, Chase Burton, was determined that his hearing loss wasn’t going to stop his ability to create incredible movies.

With the help of a tech firm based out in California, Not Impossible Labs, he got the chance to use a special suit on set that let him “feel” sounds in his local environment.

The suit was particularly instrumental in helping him work with composers, who created the soundtrack to his movie.
“I see technology as a real opportunity to bring deaf and hearing audiences together and create a new kind of experience,” Chase told CNN.

The team was amazed to hear this story, and it just goes to show that when someone’s strength of ambition and advanced technology come together, the sky is the limit.

I enjoy my life much more with my hearing back intact

The first time I noticed signs of a hearing loss was back when I was with the Memphis Police Force on the first anti-sniper unit (SWAT) team. Shooting many rounds of guns a week led to ringing in my ears, which it seemed was the start of my hearing loss.
The Hearing Center is the very best in the business. They were the most helpful in the profession that I had seen.
Since getting my hearing aids, I have no regrets. I enjoy my life much more with my hearing back intact.
If you are considering using The Hearing Center, expect to be impressed by the best in the hearing aid business. It’s wonderful to hear well again and I can’t thank them enough.

I was very impressed. The people were friendly and knowledgable.

I first noticed my hearing loss when I was having to ask people to repeat themselves a lot. I decided to get my first hearing test and I was very impressed with the service from The Hearing Center. The people were friendly and knowledgeable.
Now, I would not be able to cope without my hearing aids. I can now carry a conversation.
I can highly recommend seeking help from The Hearing Center if you are struggling with a hearing loss.

I can hear my kids playing, I feel less tired, and I have more energy!

My hearing loss started when I was just 10 years old as a result of multiple ear infections. I was really struggling to hear, and as a result, I had to have a lot of ear construction to save my hearing. I was told that I would never be able to hear certain tones again.
For many years, I was living in a world of isolation and I believed that there was no way that I would get all of my hearing back. I had an opinion that hearing aids were for older people.
When I first approached The Hearing Center, everyone was very warm and welcoming, and it did not matter how many questions I had. They answered them and were very patient with me.
They fitted me with hearing aids and the results have been life-changing. I can hear my children. They can no longer come up behind me and scare me! I feel less tired, I have more energy, and as a result, I am losing weight.
Getting help with my hearing from The Hearing Center was the best thing I ever did!
