When Was Your Last Hearing Test?

We’ve heard through the grapevine that more and more young people are wearing hearing aids these days.

It’s true—we’ve seen for ourselves how younger generations are now seeing the benefits of hearing care in loud and busy environments. Noise-induced hearing loss is the second most common form of hearing loss in today’s world; thankfully, awareness is rising, and hearing care is becoming more prevalent in the youngsters out there.

We think it’s great to see so many young people taking charge of their hearing health early. The sooner you take care of any hearing loss challenges that you’ve noticed, the better.

The WHO estimates that by 2050, one in every four people will have some sort of hearing loss, and that number won’t all be elderly people!

How Do You Treat a Hearing Loss Challenge?

The best way to alleviate hearing loss challenges is through professional hearing care. Each year, we make sure to get our teeth cleaned, our eyes checked, and our physical health examined, but hearing care often falls by the wayside.

Quite often, this is due to people’s assumptions about hearing care: hearing aids are unsightly and a surefire sign of getting old.

When you think of hearing aids, who do you think of wearing them? Your dad, fiddling with them at the dinner table, or maybe your grandma, sitting watching TV as her hearing aids buzz loudly behind her ears.

However, the stigmas against hearing aids are changing. Today’s advanced prescription hearing aids are not only more powerful, but also significantly more discreet; unless someone knows you’re wearing them, they won’t know they’re there! Out of sight, out of mind—and in your ear.

Professional hearing care and, where needed, hearing aids can help address far more than just hearing loss. Hearing aids have been proven to help with your balance, your social life, your cognitive abilities, and even help you live longer.

Even just one hearing test can help you get an understanding of your current range of hearing and see how it changes as time passes. Hearing loss happens to all of us as we age; it seems that more young people than ever are seeing that taking control of their hearing health now will help them in the future.
