Getting Ready for the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer's on October 3 as Promise Garden Sponsors

Sep 15, 2021

On October 3, we’re all set to join the hundreds of walkers that will be trailing across Pensacola as part of the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Organized by the Alzheimer’s Association, this special charitable event aims to raise $70,000 to help this incredible non-profit to further their care, support, and research efforts.

As soon as we were contacted about this event, we were very passionate about becoming sponsors and being part of this special cause.

Why is The Alzheimer’s Association Important to Us?

It almost feels like every other month that a new study is released that further confirms that there are considerable links between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline.

One of the most prominent studies was conducted by John Hopkins that tracked 639 adults for nearly 12 years. Here’s what they concluded:

The Link Between Hearing Loss and Dementia

It’s for these reasons that we have a huge passion for raising awareness for healthy hearing and the importance of a regular hearing assessment. Because we know that many people have an untreated hearing loss across the Pensacola Bay area that have never had their hearing checked.

The biggest challenge with hearing loss is that it often happens slowly and gradually, which means there are no noticeable day-to-day changes.

It’s a little like aging, you don’t notice the extra wrinkle when you look into the mirror each morning, but when you reflect on old pictures, you can see just how much things have changed. Hearing is very much the same, but there’s no way to compare your hearing today to what it was once like.

It’s why regularly testing your hearing - just like you regularly have your eyes tested or visit your dentist – is so important.

Joining Us for the Walk on October 3

It breaks our heart how much of an impact Alzheimer’s has on families, and we get to see it first hand on most days.

The work that the Alzheimer’s Association does is truly remarkable.

If you would like to join us on October 3 for the walk or donate and contribute to this incredible cause, all information can be found at https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2021/FL-CentralandNorthFlorida?fr_id=14374&pg=entry.

We hope to see you there!
