How We Can Help

Comprehensive Hearing Assessments

Since 1 in 8 Americans have some form of a hearing loss, it is likely that at least one person close to you is experiencing early signs of a hearing loss. Because of its slow and gradual decline, hearing loss is often very difficult to self-diagnose.

Much like aging, we never notice day-by-day differences when looking in the mirror, but when we review photos of ourselves from years back, we see stark differences. To identify the progression of hearing loss, it is necessary to have an accurate assessment of your current level of hearing or to establish a baseline.

Because early detection allows for a broader range of options and greater treatment success, we highly recommend an annual hearing assessment if you’re over the age of 50.

Advanced Prescription Hearing Aid Technology

Taking the necessary steps to take advantage of prescription hearing aid technology is difficult for many people because of the stigma associated with hearing aids when they were growing up. Most think of those bulky, clunky devices their grandparents used, which had a tendency to make loud whistling noises for no apparent reason. Hearing aid technology continues to make drastic changes, which make them smaller, lightweight, and discreet, as well as providing substantial improvements to performance.

The latest technology boasts features, such as advanced connectivity to your smartphone or other electronic devices and rechargeability, which allows the capacity to stream music, phone calls, or your television directly to your prescription hearing aids. This means that the latest technology doesn’t just amplify your hearing, but it also amplifies your connection to the world around you.

Cochlear Implant Mapping

Children who receive a cochlear implant before 18 months of age develop language skills at a rate comparable to children with normal hearing, and many succeed in mainstream classrooms, according to National Institute of Health (NIH) sources.

Cochlear implants treat severe to profound hearing loss in persons who receive little to no benefit from hearing aids for speech understanding ability. They are surgically implanted devices, which bypass the damaged inner ear using direct stimulation of the auditory nerve to transmit sound signals to the brain. There has been a significant rate of cochlear implanting success in eligible patients.

Tinnitus Assessments

Affecting 15% of the US population, tinnitus is one of the most common hearing challenges many of us face. Until you experience tinnitus, it’s difficult to comprehend just how much it impacts your day-to-day life. Many individuals describe tinnitus as a ringing sound while others have compared it to the sound of crickets, whooshing, and/or buzzing. It can be constant or intermittent, but it is troublesome and needs to be addressed.

Although there is no “magic pill” to fix tinnitus, there are many ways to manage it and minimize its effect on your life. We have been helping patients to do just that for the past three decades.
